Morning vs. Night Skincare: What to Use and When

Morning and evening skincare routines have distinct objectives. In the morning, your regimen should prioritize protection—begin with a gentle cleanse to eliminate sweat or oil accumulated overnight, then apply antioxidants such as vitamin C to combat environmental harm, and most crucially, use sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. If necessary, a moisturizer can be applied to hydrate and prepare the skin for makeup.

In the evening, the emphasis shifts to repair and rejuvenation. Start with a thorough cleanse to remove makeup, dirt, and pollutants. This is the ideal time to incorporate active ingredients like retinol, AHAs/BHAs, or hydrating serums, as your skin undergoes regeneration during the night. A richer moisturizer or night cream can help seal in moisture and aid recovery while you rest.
